There are moments in life when words never feel big enough for what someone did for you, and this is one of those moments.
When I was trapped in the unimaginable nightmare of akathisia, terrified, confused, and fighting for my life minute by minute, Nicki found me in a Facebook support group after I desperately reached out for help. At that point, I had no idea what was happening to me. I truly believed I was dying.
The fear, terror, physical agony, and hopelessness are impossible to describe unless you've lived through it yourself.
Yet somehow, from thousands of miles away in Australia, Nicki never left my side.
She stayed on the phone with me through some of the darkest days and nights of my life. When I felt like I couldn't survive another second, she would calmly say the words that became my lifeline:
"Hold on... just hold on."
And somehow, those words carried me through one more minute, one more hour, one more day.
Nicki didn't just offer emotional support. She helped me understand what was happening to my nervous system and body when nobody else could. She educated me, reassured me, spoke with my family and friends, and helped them understand the severity of what I was experiencing.
What makes Nicki so extraordinary is that she has walked through this hell herself and come out the other side. She became living proof that healing is possible. Rather than turning away from the pain, she chose to reach back and help others survive it too.
I truly believe Nicki saved my life.
There are people who enter your life for a reason, and then there are rare souls who carry you when you no longer have the strength to carry yourself. Nicki was that person for me.
No matter how many miles separated us, she made sure I never felt alone.

I am suffering from severe akathisia, benzodiazepine withdrawal, and paradoxical reactions, and there is one person who has helped me through it all, Nicki.
If it wasn't for her, I honestly don't believe I would still be here.
